What is your stroke story?

On December 26, 1965, at the age of nine, I had a stroke. Strokes are rare occurrences for children, and my mother was told there was little chance of survival. Even if I survived, the doctors stated that paralysis and brain dysfunction would occur. Yet I have survived and prospered, and I currently assist others who are disabled. In 2008, I formed Circle of Rights, Inc., a corporation dedicated to providing education, encouragement, and opportunity to current and future stroke survivors. These individuals deserve the right to improve their quality of life, to look forward to a better and more rewarding future, to be proud, to have dignity, and to receive respect from others. I am the Executive Director of this 501(c)(3), and as of mid-2026, I have over 150 adults and 15 teens attending meetings, using social media, and volunteering to help new stroke survivors.
